European Space Agencies Are Engaged in New Space Economy Forum

Recently, on December 10, 2019, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Space Foundation in Rome organized the New Space Economy ExpoForum. This event was organized to focus on the new space economy to develop a new market as well as opportunities for economic development in Europe. Many space agencies, manufacturers, SMEs, investors, government institutions, research scientists, start-ups, etc. participated in this international event.

Many heads of space agencies of France (CNES), Europe (ESA), Italy (ASI), Spain (CDTI) and Switzerland (SSO) and the new IAF President were engaged in the round table session and debated on the future of space program of Europe in the Ministerial Council meeting in Seville. They also discussed the new strategies for the new space economy. Twenty-two member states of ESA decided a budget of €14.4 billion for 2020 to 2024. This fund will help in the economic development of Europe. It will enhance new technologies for the industry in the field of telecommunications, exploration, and navigation.

The French Space Agency’s head, Jean-Yves Le Gall, also participated in the event. He committed to Europe and provided the CNES approach to the new space economy to maintain the research and technology expertise of the country. In Europe, CNES is the only space agency with a technical field center for developing satellites from scratch to finish.

The President of CNES also marked the CNES Initiative’s Connect, which is committed to the markets of the space center, mobility, healthcare, and environment. The President said that CNES’s Connect provides a path to the bigger economy. French research and technology will help in enhancing the NewSpace ecosystem.
